Getting started
- What is NeuraCue?
- NeuraCue is an Android app that creates location-based reminders called "cues." A cue triggers automatically when you arrive at or leave a specific place — no need to check your phone or remember to look at a list.
- Is NeuraCue free?
- NeuraCue is free to download with a 10-cue limit on the free plan. A Premium subscription unlocks unlimited cues at $1.99/month or $19.99/year, available as an in-app purchase on Google Play.
- What Android version do I need?
- NeuraCue requires Android 11 (API level 30) or higher.
- Do I need a Google account to use NeuraCue?
- No account is required for basic use. All your cues are stored locally on your device. An account is needed for premium features and optional Passkey sign-in.
- Where can I download NeuraCue?
- NeuraCue is available on Google Play. It is currently in early access — you may need to request access before installing.
How cues work
- How accurate is the geofence?
- Accuracy depends on your device's GPS and sensors, network connectivity, and Android's platform location services. In most cases a 100-metre radius is reliable for typical use. Larger radii are more dependable in areas with weaker signal.
- Can a cue trigger when I leave a place, not just when I arrive?
- Yes. Departure notifications are optional and set per cue — enable them when creating a cue or toggle them on the cue detail screen. When you leave the location a background notification fires; tapping it opens the cue detail.
- Can I attach a photo to a cue?
- Yes. Cues support an optional photo attachment, visible in the cue detail view.
- How many cues can I create?
- The free plan supports up to 10 cues. A Premium subscription unlocks unlimited cues.
- What is the notes feature?
- Premium subscribers can write a daily note in the app. Notes are encrypted on device and synced to your account. This feature is early — more functionality is planned.
Battery & performance
- Will NeuraCue drain my battery?
- NeuraCue uses battery-optimized geofencing with smart background processing to minimize drain. It is designed to run quietly without a noticeable impact on battery life under normal use.
- Why did a cue trigger late or not at all?
- Geofence triggers depend on device sensors, connectivity, and Android's background processing rules. Battery optimization settings, Doze mode, or restricted background activity on some devices can delay or prevent triggers. Try exempting NeuraCue from battery optimization in Android Settings if you experience consistent misses.
Offline & connectivity
- Does NeuraCue work without internet?
- Yes. NeuraCue is offline-first. All cues are stored locally and geofence triggers fire without an internet connection. An internet connection is only needed for features that use map search to find new locations.
- Does it work abroad or while roaming?
- Yes. Because triggers are handled entirely on-device, NeuraCue works anywhere your phone can determine its location — including areas with no data signal.
Privacy & data
- Where is my location data stored?
- Your data is encrypted on device and synced only to power your reminders — never sold, never used for ads.
- Does NeuraCue sell my data?
- No. NeuraCue does not sell personal data. See our Privacy Policy for full details on how data is used.
- How do I delete my account and data?
- Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account in the app. This removes your account and all cloud-synced data. Locally stored data is removed when you uninstall the app. To delete support email threads, contact privacy@neuracue.com.
Permissions
- What permissions does NeuraCue need?
- NeuraCue may request Location (foreground and optionally background) to create and trigger geofences, and Notifications to alert you when a cue fires, when you leave a location, or for subscription updates. You can grant or revoke permissions at any time in Android Settings → Apps → NeuraCue → Permissions.
- Why does NeuraCue need background location?
- Background location is needed to trigger cues reliably when the app is not open. Without it, cues will only fire while the app is in the foreground. Granting background location is optional — you can use NeuraCue with foreground-only location, though some triggers may be missed.
SMS & account
- What are subscription notifications?
- NeuraCue may send a push notification for subscription events such as purchase confirmations and entitlement changes. Tapping the notification opens the relevant screen in the app — your account details for a confirmed purchase, or the subscription page if action is needed.
- Why does NeuraCue send SMS messages?
- SMS is used only for account authentication (one-time passcodes) and account security alerts if you choose to sign in with your phone number. NeuraCue does not send marketing or promotional SMS messages.
- How do I opt out of SMS?
- Reply STOP to any SMS from NeuraCue to unsubscribe. You can also contact support@neuracue.com for help. See the SMS Disclosure page for full details.
- Should I use a passkey instead of SMS OTP?
- Yes — after your first sign-in with SMS OTP, we recommend setting up a passkey in the app. Passkeys are phishing-resistant and do not require a code to be sent to your phone, making them significantly more secure than one-time passcodes.
