Privacy Policy

Who we are

NeuraCue provides an Android app that lets you create AI-assisted, geofenced reminders.

Scope

This policy covers the NeuraCue Android app distributed via Google Play and this website (neuracue.com).

Data we collect

Location data (optional, permission-based)

Types: approximate or precise, foreground and (if enabled) background.
Use: trigger reminders, show your current location on the map, and improve geofence accuracy.
Control: you can deny or revoke in Android Settings at any time.
Background: location access is used only to trigger reminders reliably when you arrive at or leave a place, even when the app is not actively open.

Device & app info (OS version, app version/code, device model, and a Firebase push token) for diagnostics, compatibility, and delivering push notifications to your device.

Analytics (anonymous/aggregated event data such as feature usage, session info) to improve reliability and UX.

Crash reports (e.g., stack traces, device state at crash) to fix stability issues.

Cue data (optional, account-linked)

Types: the cues you create — titles, descriptions, place names and addresses, geofence coordinates and radius, and whether you have completed it.
Use: to sync your cues across the devices signed in to your account and restore them after a reinstall.
Processing: stored under your account in Google Cloud. Geofences are always evaluated on your device — syncing does not send your live position anywhere.
Control: using NeuraCue without an account keeps every cue on your device and syncs nothing. Deleting your account deletes the synced copy.

Notes (optional) — daily notes you write in the app, stored encrypted on device and synced to your account.

Voice recordings (optional, permission-based)

Types: audio captured when you use voice input to create or dictate a cue.
Use: converted to text so you can create cues by speaking.
Processing: sent to our server and transcribed using Google Cloud Speech-to-Text. We do not keep the audio after transcription.
Control: revoke the Microphone permission in Android Settings at any time. Voice input never runs in the background — it records only while you hold or activate the control.

Cue content processed by AI (off unless you turn it on)

Types: cue titles, descriptions, place names and addresses, dictated text, and visit statistics (visit counts and the typical day and hour you arrive).
Use: to suggest titles, descriptions, geofence radius and priority, and to summarize your visit patterns for a cue.
Processing: sent to Google Cloud Vertex AI (Gemini).
Control: AI features are off by default. Turn them on or off under Settings → AI Features → AI suggestions. While they are off, suggestions are generated on your device and none of this data is sent.

Cue photos (optional) — photos you attach to a cue, stored in Google Cloud Storage under your account and deleted when you delete the cue or your account.

Permission preferences (optional, account-linked)

Types: which runtime permissions you have previously granted (microphone, location, background location, notifications).
Use: to personalize your experience across reinstalls and devices — for example, skipping first-time rationale prompts for permissions you have already accepted, or immediately showing voice-search controls you have used before.
What it does not do:this data never bypasses Android's permission system. The OS always has final authority; we only use this to reduce unnecessary in-app friction.
Control: deleted automatically when you delete your account.

Contact data you provide when you email us (email address, message contents).

How we use data

  • Provide core features (geofenced reminders, map, search).
  • Operate, protect, and improve the app (performance, debugging, analytics).
  • Communicate support responses you request.
  • Comply with legal obligations and platform policies.
  • Analytics help us understand how the app is used and improve reliability. Crash reports help us fix stability issues. These services are provided by RudderStack, Amplitude, Kochava, and Firebase Crashlytics — each subject to their own privacy policies.
  • Map display and place search use MapLibre. Search queries may be sent to map data providers subject to their privacy policies. Geofences are evaluated on your device; cue locations leave it only for the account sync and AI processing described above.

Processing & sharing

We process data as described above. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use your content to train AI models. We may share data with service providers strictly to operate the app (e.g., Google Play services, MapLibre, Google Cloud — Vertex AI for AI suggestions, Speech-to-Text for voice input, and Cloud Storage for cue photos — analytics/crash tooling, SMS delivery providers) under appropriate agreements.

Security

We take reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Retention

We retain data only as long as necessary for the purposes described or as required by law or platform rules. Crash and analytics data is retained according to the respective provider's policies.

Your choices & controls

Permissions: Grant or revoke Location (precise/approximate; foreground/background), Microphone, and Notifications in Android Settings → Apps → NeuraCue → Permissions. Revoking a permission immediately prevents its use in the app, regardless of any stored preference history.

AI features: Off by default. Turn them on or off under Settings → AI Features → AI suggestions in the app. While off, no cue content is sent for AI processing and suggestions are generated on your device.

Data deletion: You can delete your account and all cloud-synced data directly in the app via Settings → Account → Delete Account. Locally stored data is removed when you uninstall the app. To delete support email threads, contact privacy@neuracue.com.

Opt-out of analytics: Contact us to request opt-out instructions where supported, or use system-level ad/analytics controls.

SMS (OTP) disclosure & consent

What SMS is used for

If you choose to sign in with SMS, NeuraCue may send transactional SMS messages for account authentication (one-time passcodes) and account security alerts and related account security notifications. NeuraCue does not send marketing or promotional SMS messages.

Consent & controls

In the app, the SMS disclosure is shown at the time you request an OTP. By tapping "Request OTP" (or submitting your phone number to request an OTP), you consent to receive transactional SMS messages for account authentication (one-time passcodes) and account security alerts and related account security notifications.

Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply.
Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help.

Children

NeuraCue is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child provided data, contact us to remove it.

Regional rights

Depending on your region (e.g., EEA/UK under GDPR, California under CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data. Contact us to exercise these rights; we will verify and respond as required.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in the app, services, or laws. We will post the new version here with a new effective date. Significant changes may also be highlighted in-app.
